Reading Time: 3 Minutes
Especially in times where social media exists and communication is easier then ever, getting FOMO (“Fear Of Missing Out“) is super common and can be extremly stressful. Seeing your friends hanging out on vacation or your co-workers together partying on a rooftop in Manhattan - the situations are endless. But don't worry, there is no need to be jealous - We got you four of our favorite tips on how to change your mindset and overcome your FOMO.
Practice Mindfulness
Practice being grateful and tell yourself positive affirmations. It should help you to be comfortable with yourself and to enjoy your own company. Just be the main character in your life! Another tip we can give you is to not compare yourself to others and to not compare your level 1 to someones level 100. Especially when those people are older - you should know that it is totally okay to be at the place where you are right now and to go in your own pace.
Friends
Choose your friends wisely. Look out for friends who share the same perspectives and are interested in the same things. If you know a lot of people that travel a lot and you have FOMO, look for people YOU can do the same thing with, too. Another thing you can do is asking these people if you can join them next time!
Build more confidence
Cultivate confidence in your decision and trust yourself. Embrace your uniqueness and know that you're making choices that align with your values.
Limit social media
It's no secret that social media can intensify the feeling of missing out. Limiting your screen time will help you to appreciate the present moment without getting caught up in what others are doing. Plus, remember that people often share only the highlights of their lives, rather than the full picture.
