Having trouble with falling asleep or waking up during the night is a common problem with which a lot of people struggle with. Especially during stressful times or a full schedule it can be hard to get some rest time over the night. These 6 tips may help you to reduce your stress-level and your anxiety for a better good night sleep.

Busy? Skip to your favorite part.

1. Improve your Sleep Schedule

Going to bed while the new day has already begun is not the best idea if you want better sleep quality. Try to stick to a routine and go to bed earlier to give yourself more time to fall asleep AND a longer bedtime. The next morning you'll realize, that it is easier for you to get out of bed and that you are more energized and ready for the day.

2. Social Media Detox

Yes, Social media can be great to pass time and it seems to be very relaxing, especially during the evening. But as we all know, social media can be mentally super stressful and draining and eventually can be the reason for the fact that you struggle to fall asleep. + What you may not realize is that it takes a lot of time to process all the information we get from our socials... and just thinking too much about things can affect our sleep behavior.

3. Screen Time Limits

In addition to that, try to reduce your screen time not only on your phone, but also on your computer, tablet or whatever device you use the most. To reduce the exposure and block out the blue lights, turn on "Night Shift" by tapping Settings > Display & Brightness > Night Shift on your iPhone. There are also special glasses which can block out blue lights.

4. Peaceful Environment

Make sure to feel comfortable in your own bedroom. Is there something which could distract you? Something that makes you feel anxious or uncomfortable? If so, store these things, at least overnight, in a box or container. Other factors that could guide you to better sleep are the right bed sheets, pillows AND of course the right mattress. Also make sure to set your bedroom temperature to a comfortable temperature for a cozy feeling.

PS: If you live in the city next to traffic and other loud things that might distract you, reduce noises (if possible) and make sure that your bedroom is a quiet and relaxing space.

5. Relaxing Sounds & Music

Listening to music or sounds while falling asleep is great to calm down and to focus on yourself. There are lots of apps in the App Store which have amazing playlists with different genres or even nature sounds, like the sound of the rain or the jungle. To cancel out the noise of your snoring roommates, we prefer headphones with noise cancellation.

6. Meditation

Before you go to sleep, give yourself a few minutes and just recap your day and refocus on tomorrow. Try to forget all the stressful parts that happened over the day and just live in the moment for a minute. Meditation not only helps you to learn more about yourself but also lets you appreciate the smaller things in life. For a soft and comfortable experience we recommend using a yoga mat.
